SUBJECT: Highlands PTA Update - May 10th

PTA Weekly Update
May 10, 2021

It's hard to believe it's the second week of May. We've got a lot of things planned right up to the end of school! We'll have one more Dine to Donate opportunity and it's a good one if you are craving sweets. Delicious by the Dozen donates 25% of sales back to the PTA. AND Erica and Mike Cordaro will match that with another 25%. Thank you Cordaros!

Sixth Grader Carter Wright, who had a bike accident in 2019, is working with Bike Walk KC and the City of Fairway on May 29th to promote bike safety and awareness. Please see the information below.

We'll be able to share the Virtual Variety Show with everyone on May 17th! The kids did a great job and we can't wait to share all their amazing performances.

And finally, don't forget to order your yearbooks! It's getting down to the wire. Have a great week!

Last Chance to Donate to Teachers & Staff

Deadline is this Wednesday, May 12

We're delighted to again offer the SCRIP gift program as an option for thanking the Highlands staff for another great year. This Year End program puts gift cards in the pocket of every staff member at Highlands. The staff appreciate the freedom to choose gift cards they most enjoy and parents appreciate the simplicity of this gift of gratitude. And because the program utilizes SCRIP, together we earn money for Highlands!

Thank you so much for your support!

Caring for Our Community

By: Lucy Stilwell

Start volunteering,

helping another,

we are caring,

now show it to your brother.

If we all work together,

Plant a community,

Hand out a sweater,

To build our immunity.

Give the homeless shelter a hand,

Put yourself in their shoes,

I hope you understand

There is really nothing you will lose.

Be a good Neighbor,

Your neighbors need you

Make the world greater

Perhaps they will help you too.

Please don’t litter

Scoop up that trash

You’ll help a critter

And don’t do it for cash.

If you are affectionate to your friends

You should whip them up a cake

If you can hang around during the weekend

Yours nor their’s heart will ache.

Wear a mask,

It will help you get around safely,

If you go somewhere,

Go very carefully.

Our brand new & improved yearbooks are $14 before credit card fees and taxes.

It's going to be an amazing keepsake for your child. Yearbooks will be handed out before the end of school so they can get their friends to autograph them. If you get an email from the Yearbook company, Walsworth you can click on that one too. Both their link and this one take you to the right spot!

Teachers and Staff will need to order yearbooks as well.
